Moxibustion relies heavily on mugwort, which is processed into a soft, spongy material.  Our Practitioners will apply this straight to the skin or hold it near the acupuncture sites. When the mugwort is ignited and allowed to smolder gently, the heat produced enters the skin and increases the flow of Qi (vital energy) and blood.

The Power of Mugwort:

The key ingredient in moxibustion is mugwort, which is processed into a soft, spongy substance. Practitioners can either place this directly on the skin or hold it near the acupuncture points. By igniting the mugwort and allowing it to smolder slowly, the heat generated penetrates the skin and stimulates the flow of Qi (vital energy) and blood.

Variations in Technique:

This treatment comes in two main forms: direct and indirect. Direct moxibustion involves placing the smoldering mugwort directly on the skin, while indirect moxibustion uses a barrier, such as a slice of ginger or a salt-and-garlic paste, to protect the skin from direct contact with the burning herb. The choice of technique depends on the patient’s condition and comfort level.

Promoting Balance and Healing:

Moxibustion is renowned for its ability to alleviate pain, reduce inflammation, and address various health issues, including digestive disorders, menstrual problems, and arthritis. By warming the body’s acupuncture points, it helps restore balance and harmony to the body’s systems.

Harnessing the Healing Power of Heat:

Moxibustion invites individuals to experience the healing power of heat and the wisdom of ancient traditions. Whether used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan or as a standalone therapy, the treatment continues to offer a unique and effective approach to achieving balance and well-being.
